Use of Force Reviews – Chandler Police Department Open Data

It is the policy of this department that officers hold the highest regard for the sanctity of human life and liberty of all persons and that no unnecessary or unreasonable force shall be used. Use of force incidents, at a minimum, are reviewed by the involved officer’s chain of command, and by two separate use of force review boards; an internal board staffed by department employees and an external board comprised of community members appointed by the Mayor. In each incident, the officer’s actions are scrutinized using case law, department policy, and best practices in policing.
